Charges have been brought against a young Icelandic man for having killed an Albanian man in Austurvöllur Square in early December 2017, RÚV reports. The charges became public when the District Prosecutor responded to an inquiry from a media outlet. The charges against the man have not been formally announced to him.
The deceased, Klevis Sula, was a twenty-year-old Albanian man. He suffered serious stab wounds during the incident and died in the early morning of December 8, a week after the attack took place. The man who has been charged has been in police custody for three months, on charges of assaulting Klevis and his companion, whose injuries were less serious.
